When to choose what
When to choose Notion AI
- Your team already lives in Notion: wikis, projects, databases, meeting notes, it is all in there
- What you need first is to find and synthesise internal knowledge, not to get work executed on the outside
- Somebody on your side enjoys structuring the workspace and building agents, and has the time to do it

Notion AI is a very good product, and if Notion is already the brain of your company then switching it on is the obvious call: nothing will search your own pages better. But an owner whose business fits into an inbox, a stack of quotes and a phone has no Notion workspace to query, and no appetite for building one first. I do not use Notion, can this still be of interest?
Notion AI is worth exactly as much as what you have put into Notion: it is an intelligence layer over your workspace. If you do not have one, the prerequisite is to build that workspace and move your information into it, which is a project in its own right. The AIOS has no such prerequisite: it plugs into your mail, your documents and your current tools, and builds its own company memory over the following weeks.
Do Notion agents not already do the work for me?
They do a great deal, within their perimeter. A Notion agent is very good at updating fifty rows of a database, producing a synthesis from your pages or preparing meeting notes. What it does not do is carry the relationship with your clients outside Notion: answering the incoming email, following up last week's quote, publishing, calling a supplier back. That is precisely the ground the AIOS covers.
Can the two be used together?
Yes, and it is common. Notion stays your knowledge base and your project management, the AIOS works around it: it reads what it needs from your documents, produces and sends what has to go out, and can drop its reports where your team already reads them. They do not tread on each other, they handle different halves of the job.
